Liquidity Shortfall Calculator
Add your estate assets, debt, and liquidity resources. The calculator estimates shortfall or surplus and highlights how marriage regime and accrual claims can affect the final estate position.
This calculator starts at a baseline negative of R 55 000 due to presumed funeral costs of R 50 000 and admin costs of R 5 000.
Back to HomeFamily Setup
Select the marriage regime to estimate spousal priority rights, accrual claims, and what may remain for will beneficiaries.
For in-community calculations, this tool assumes entered assets and debt reflect the joint estate position.
Assets
Add only assets that legally form part of the deceased estate. Exclude assets owned by trusts. Include any enforceable claim the estate has against a trust, such as a trust loan account receivable or payable distribution.
Debt
Add balances that must be settled from the estate.
Liquidity Resources
Add only funds available for estate debts and wind-up costs. For life cover, capture only the pay-out amount that will flow to the estate.
Additional Costs
Presumed costs can be adjusted based on the estate scenario.
Family Income Provision
Add monthly support needs and support periods for spouse and children. Study support is captured per child. Child support years default to an age-21 assumption if left blank.
Children
Spouse support period used: 0 months (0.0years). If child support years are left blank, the calculator defaults to age 21 from each child's current age.
